Feb. 18th, 2001 - 1552 Designs first annual "Winter Treffen" was a great success. About 200 cars attended the event making it THE biggest watercooled VW show in Florida. While this show use to be called "Ice-Fest" when 1552 made its home in Alexandria, VA now located in sunny Sarasota, FL the show takes on a warmer climate and with it a chance for people up north to get out the winter cold hence the name "Winter Treffen". The majority of the cars at the show were from Florida but there were quite a few out of state visitors, people came from Texas, Arkansas, Virginia, Georgia, and even Maine. APR came all the way from Alabama for the show where they set up a display of their latest tuing products and were even doing on site chip burning, quite a few people left the show faster than they got there! The show was FREE of course and judging was performed by everyone that attended the show. They had various classes ranging from best golf 3 or best engine to VW you'd most like to drag race or most pimpable!! 1st place took home $15 for each class while 2nd place took home $5, once again I should mention this is a FREE show.
